I guess it’s an interesting touch, one that I will continue to have mixed feelings about. Although it does give the movie a rounded feel by having her at the beginning and the end. ![]() It takes some of the importance away from Nelly’s character for a start. I think it’s a nice touch but I don’t think it makes much sense to the movie itself. It includes Emily Bronte herself as the very beginning and end of the movie as well as acting as a narrator throughout the movie. This adaptation does something that I don’t think any other adaptation does and honestly I’m not sure how I feel about it. I think I would give a 6/10 because I really enjoy parts of it while being really unsure about others. I still enjoy it a lot but I used to call it my favourite and I’m sure I wouldn’t now. ![]() ![]() ![]() I came out of this watch with two overarching thoughts: it’s not as romanticised as I thought and I don’t love it as much as I thought I did. I’ve seen this film before a fair few times, and even wrote about it for my AS Level English Language course, so I knew it pretty well, however it had been a few years since I’d seen it.
